Magazine Cleanup

I know I told you Monday that I was starting this week off fresh and then I let Tuesday slip by without a post. Well, now you know why. After dinner last night I retreated to the living room only to find this:

Hello, I'm the wife, and I'm addicted to magazines.
The husband made me sit down and throw away magazines - gasp! - and that meant no blogging. So, yes, as mad as I was that he told me some of my precious reads had to go the man had a point - and I rediscovered a bunch of recipes that I marked and never made. I really, really hated to see a lot of those magazines go, but the stack on the bottom of the bookshelf was getting a bit ridiculous.

Tell me: What sort of clutter seems to gather in your house when you're not looking?

  1. This post made me cry. I hope you at least ripped out the pages that you want to save. :)

Dudette's "artwork" is what our house collects. She doesn't want us to throw anything away, even if it's a simple scribble on a piece of paper. Those things end up getting sent to family as birthday wishes, etc. so I guess it's a good thing, but there still is a lot more created and saved than goes out.

  2. We have the same problem with magazines. I got some of those stand-up cardboard filing shelf thingies, and those magazines that I think will be useful in the future (such as Natural Home and Mother Earth News...with house tips and instructions, recipes, gardening tips, etc) go in the files, while less useful ones get recycled once we're done reading them.

  3. I should get some of those, Tracey. That's a good idea. I just ripped out a whole bunch of pages and threw them into a folder. But organizers would allow me to keep some of those magazines nicely on the bookshelf. :)

Thanks for taking the time out of your day to show my space a little love.
